{There's a First For Everything: Trying Something Different}

The event that I'm going to blog about today is a couple years old, but this weekend reminded me of it and inspired me to share it with you! A couple of years ago when Kory and I were dating, we went down to Grand Lake for the weekend with his family. It was so fun, we boated, we went swimming and we ate and drank a ton! Lots of good family time!
One of the nights we were there though, we went Bow Fishing. Something that I had never done before. Something that I never would have considered doing before. See, I find fishing rather boring. There's too much sitting around, too much waiting and toooo much quiet! You know me, I'm not a patient person, I don't have time to wait around on a fish all day. So how do you catch those fish quicker and with a lot more excitement?? With a bow-that's how! Seriously, it was one of the most intense things I've ever done, it was so fun! My adrenaline was pumping and my heart was racing, it was awesome! We started around 9pm or so? And we didn't finish until FIVE in the morning. The surprising part about that is that I lasted the whole time. Not like stayed awake and out there because I had to, but because I was enjoying it so much!
Stories like this are really why we should all get out there and try things that we've never done before. You might just surprise yourself, like I did. I actually can't wait to do it again.
Like I said above, you go at night. We were fishing for carp so you find them out on the shorelines at night. You go out on the boat and troll in shallow water and you can see them so easily, there's big groups of them everywhere.
It doesn't matter if you've never shot a bow before, it just takes a quick lesson. I got a ten-minute tutorial on how to shoot a bow. After learning the basics they threw targets into the water for me to practice on.

Once I started hitting the targets it was time to try the real thing! And to everyone's amazement, I drilled a fish on my first arrow! Man I was stoked. Naturally, I didn't want to touch it..."Terry yooouu dooo it!!" haha
 There's my first fish on my first shot. Really guys, a ten minute lesson. You need to try this!
 Exactly why I didn't want to touch it-look at it trying to whack me in the face with its tail! Eeeek!

 The pro caught this one...

Someone please notice the awful shirt my husband is wearing. He refuses to get rid of it. He makes me laugh. :)

 All of the guys. It was a successful night we ended up catching about 65 carp that night, 15 of which were mine. :)

I know I'm really not translating this that well. It really is so cool. If you love the outdoors and being active and trying new things, then this is for you. It's just a rush. I'll be honest being a girl and being good at something like this, was pretty cool. I surprised the men, but I think I surprised myself even more. I was impressed and so glad I tried it rather than sitting on the sidelines.
Thanks Kor, for bring me along on these awesome adventures!
If you want to know more about bow fishing feel free to ask! Or if you need a place to go, let me know. We know the best guy to take you out!
Have a fabulous day! Get out there and try something new!
