I missed June's Monthly Challenge over at Living On Love, because things were just too hectic around here. I'm pleased to share July's challenge with you though. This month Lacy wanted us to get organized. When I first read her challenge, I rolled my eyes. I thought to myself, get organized? Where do I start? Right now I feel like my whole life needs organization. It was hard to pick just one thing to organize. I could stand up right now, spin around and find 10 things that need to be organized. Haha. I thought I'd start with my closet though. For me my closet is kind of an escape. Organizing it is typically soothing and more relaxing than it is work. With life getting in the way my closet has become a disaster. Like literally a natural disaster, it looks like a tornado comes barreling through each day.
I actually cleaned up a little before snapping the first picture(I was that embarrassed)...

Stuff is everywhere and there's no system. Even my husband's side is frightening.
I started by taking everything off and sorting them into separate piles. Dresses, skirts, silk shirts, winter, etc...
My dress collection is a bit absurd. I'll pretend like this is all of them.
 Just a mess.
Now, I know it looks pretty much the same, but I assure you it makes so much more sense now. My shoes are more organized, by color even. It goes dresses, then rompers, skirts, shorts, silk shirts and so on. Winter clothes are together. Jeans, pants and leggings are all together.
Everything is much more spread apart. Just like when you go to a store, I find that if the clothes are too packed together, I lose interest. If I have to dig for something I'm over it. So giving myself more space made more sense.

What kind of wife would I be if I didn't help out my husband?
We have so much stuff that it looks like I didn't do anything, but I actually spent about 3 hours on this closet project! I can actually see the floor now. Somehow I still have 3 loads on the dining room table that need to be put away :/. I'd like to paint and get some nice bins, but I didn't want to spend money on this project...maybe later. I did manage to make this awesome pile to donate!

  1. This looks awesome! Love the jewelry board! And oh my gosh - you have so many shoes! :)

  2. Haha. My closet is insane! I'm pretty much a clothes hoarder so that's why it looks like I have so much! :)

We LOVE getting comments, go ahead and leave one!
