A Week of Fall: DIY Owl Canvas.

This week I'm doing a little "Week of Fall" series for y'all! Fall is my favorite time of year. The air is crisp, the leaves are a beautiful auburn color, and fall = my birthday month! Fall also brings the perfect amount of layers, you can wear all the big comfy sweaters without having to put on a big bulky coat, I love it!
So this week, I'll have 5 posts revolving around FALL! First up is a DIY Owl Canvas...

For this project you'll want to pick out a few of your favorite printed papers, I got mine on sale at Hobby Lobby. You'll also need a canvas, modge podge, black paint, a paintbrush, scissors and a pencil! You may want an owl stencil too if you don't feel comfortable free-handing.

My first step was to free-hand an owl, this was interesting. I don't consider myself an artist-at all, but I gave it my best. I think that's one thing you need to accept and embrace with this project, everything won't be perfect, but that's what makes it so cute! Once I had an outline of my owl I cut it out and traced it onto the back of each paper and then cut them out. Next I used a bottle cap to make the eyes. I free-handed the noses and cut the noses and the eyes out. Next I placed the owls where I wanted them on the canvas and glued them on, I was careful to wipe away any excess glue. Then with a pencil I free-handed what I wanted the canvas to say. I practiced on a piece of scrap paper first! :) Then I was ready to go over it with a paintbrush. Then that's it, you're done and ready to hang!

Such a fun project. The owls remind me of fall but this would be a great nursery project or Christmas gift, it's currently residing in our laundry room. I wish you could see print #1 up close it's so cute with little owls and deer all over it(that's the part that reminds me so much of fall and a baby nursery)! Check it out right below, it's the top print.
