A little bit of cheese....

A little bit of cheese from yours truly today...

I love the fall, we all know that, I've exclaimed it to you guys a hundred times. There is one tiny detail about the fall that makes my heart ache. My husband is a very avid hunter. Hunting is his passion. He'd be out huntin' 365 days of the year if it was possible. It's not possible, however he is fortunate to have more time than most, to hunt. He's gone nearly every weekend in the fall, including an annual 10 day trip. They say distance makes the heart grow fonder, which is probably true, but most of the time I just think it's painful. Now don't get me wrong, I enjoy my alone time, I'm needy but not that needy. It's just lonely when your best friend isn't around. The simplest things just aren't as exciting. I watch our favorite shows alone, I fall asleep alone, Tego cries because she misses her daddy. It's heartbreaking I tell ya. Every noise I hear around the house has me in a frenzy and I don't sleep well when he's gone. Does anyone else have that...or is it just me? Isn't it just more comforting to have your other half with you? I mean that's why I married him, because I enjoy his company and want to spend the rest of my life with him. I'll admit, I miss him hogging the the blankets, stealing the toothpaste, eating the last bite, fogging up the mirror, stinking up the bathroom, stealing the remote...I'm sure there's more, but you get it, I miss him. Things that usually drive me crazy, I miss. I'm really just babbling. I guess what you can take from this post is that you shouldn't take the little things for granted. I love all our little quirks and what makes us, us. And I miss the hell out of that man when he's not around. I guess when he's gone I'll just have Tego sleep with me so she can steal the covers. I'm sure I can count on her to stink up the room and eat the last bite too. Haha. Give your loved ones some love today people! :)

  1. Ugh! I have a large family of hunters so I know how they can be ;) My husband is not a hunter, but he is a medical resident. So it's like the hunting season experience year-round around here! He's currently on a 3-week stint of nights, so since I work full time during normal business hours, we basically don't see each other AT ALL for this time. We are ships passing in the night... gah! I try to make it fun by doing things I like but he doesn't when he's not home. I eat mushrooms, watch stupid shows on tv, take baths, cuddle with the dog, work out every day as soon as I get home. It helps some :)

    1. Yes, I left out the spring hunting so I feel ya! I will say your situation sounds tougher than mine. I'm definitely trying to get things done around the house and do all those DIYs that I don't want to while he's home. Thanks for your kind words! :)
