{2013 Wedding Trends}

As my last installment of WEDDING WEEK, I thought I'd share some upcoming trends for 2013 weddings! My love for wedding dresses will never die. They're just so beautiful. So I'll start with those! If you missed the rest of wedding week, be sure to go back and check it out. We featured some beautiful weddings! Ok, here goes...

I have quite the adoration for dresses with pockets. I'm a hands-in-hers-pockets type of gal. The comfort and convenience of pockets on a dress is just mind blowing to me. So naturally I gasped out loud when I realized that wedding dresses with pockets will be a HUGE trend in 2013 and I couldn't wait to share it with you guys! I picked out just a couple of dresses to give you an idea. What do you think of the hands-in-yo-pockets trend?? Are you gasping out loud like I did? :)

Another trend for 2013, which I'm not sure I'm a fan of, is the BOLD wedding dress. Bold with color that is. A bold hue, like Jessica Biel-Timberlake, is right on trend for 2013. Truth be told, I'm too much of a traditionalist for this trend, but they do make for some show stopping dresses! The colored dresses shown can be found here and here.

Numerous times I've shared my love for the peplum with you guys. I'm not at all surprised to see it on trend for the upcoming year's dresses. Although I don't find the peplum at all traditional either, I still find it fascinating and consider it to be the epitome of fashion when it comes to the wedding realm. If you're looking for something that isn't your every day bride look, I'd heavily consider a peplum dress.

The trend newest to me is the "Transformer Dress" trend. Transformer refers to dresses that transform from one look to another. This includes detachable trains and skirts. You get two dresses for the price of one. I so badly wanted a dress to change into at the end of our reception. Sadly it wasn't in our budget and I couldn't see spending the money we did on my dress to not wear it the full time. So this trend leaves me intrigued, but only if they can perfect it. I don't want it to be left cheesy or cheap. Would you wear a transformer? Bottom left is a transformer.

Lace is a trend that's sticking around for 2013 and just happens to be my favorite. I've done a post or two sharing my affinity for lace. Lace to me, defines the traditional bride. I am a little biased and that is just MY opinion. :) I can't get enough of it though. It's classy, it's sexy, it's elegant, it's just plain beautiful. Lace would be my pick time and time again. Can someone please do their hair like the model in the lace dress above?? I would have done my hair like that if I'd found this last year! Amazing. Lace dress here.

So those are the wedding dress trend for 2013. Some other trends you can look forward to are as follows:

More details in the food. Such as carnival food, food trucks, home style foods, etc. This includes the presentation of the food. You can also look forward to round two of food, as couples are having late night snacks delivered to the reception!

Vintage. Everything vintage. From the dress, to the hair, to the tux. Think 20's and Mad Men and pearls. Picture flapper girl with a modern twist. Sounds exciting to me!  How about a live jazz band like Natalie had, to go along with it??

Who's always ready for the after party after a wedding?? I know we are. You will start to see even more after hours events next wedding season, with brides and grooms planning an extended party for their guests. This is just madness to me, knowing that we didn't even leave our reception until after 1:30am!

There's a little peek at what you have to look forward in the upcoming year! Some new trends and some that are here to stay!

xx,
Melissa Loren
