2013

This year I'm keeping it simple with my goals and resolutions. I was so busy this past year that I didn't even have time to think about my goals let alone actually complete them. I'm guessing that this new year will be another one filled with long days and long nights at work. I'm constantly reminding myself to be optimistic and positive and that one day all of this will pay off. So with all of the things already on my plate, I don't want to put too much pressure on myself. I want to focus on things that will fulfill me and keep a smile on my face. Without further ado, here our my four simple goals for this year.

1. First and foremost, I want to strive *daily* to work on being a healthier, happier me. Now I know that's rather broad and vague(and really you're not supposed to do that when setting goals), but I don't know how else to put it. In general I want to be healthier and a little less stressed. I don't want to worry so much about the small stuff(I'm a worrier). I don't want to be as sensitive as I tend to be. I want to care a little less about the things that aren't truly important. One of my good friends always says, "Melissa, will it matter in 5 years?" I love that. Nine times out of ten when I think about it, it won't matter in 5 years, so why stress about it now? It always makes me feel better when she asks me that. I catch myself asking that question often and it helps me get over what is bothering me(even if only a bit). So that's #1, work on me.

2. Buy myself a MacBook. This is definitely not something that I need, but I do really want one and I've worked so hard that I think I deserve to reward myself. I'm making it a goal of mine to save up for one!

3. Make progress on my 30 before 30. There's no rush on this, but I am 2 months closer to 30 now, so I better start sometime!

4. Food Journal. I would really like to get a food journal like this one that I found on Etsy. If you know me at all, you know I would never eat just salads(I don't have the willpower), but a little motivation never hurt anyone. I think that keeping track of what you eat on a daily basis is a real eye-opener. I think it helps keep you honest and on the right track. I've done this before, but the goal here is to do it every day. This is a step in the direction of a healthier me. Care to join me?

That's it. Four simple goals. What are your resolutions this year? Be sure to share them with me!
xx,
Melissa Loren
