I did it...

I did it guys. I went out to dinner. Alone. Sans the hubby or any other human being. It was different, but it was liberating at the same time. I did sit at the bar, I don't know of that's cheating or not. I figured I wouldn't look quite as alone in the bar area. The bartender acted like it was the weirdest thing ever, at first. She eventually warmed up to me and the idea of me dining alone. I could tell that she was curious as to why I was eating alone. I didn't offer her any answers though. It's kind of fun to be mysterious. EVERYone thought it was weird when I had a bowl of salad, breadsticks, spinach & artichoke dip and spaghetti sitting in front of me. Obviously I didn't eat t all, I just like a little variety. People looked at me like I was a total P-I-G! Especially the older woman with her husband who decided to sit RIGHT next to me at the bar, when the entire bar was empty. I kept feeling the heat from the glare of her stare as I ate. I wanted to look at her and tell her that indeed all of that food was for me, breadstick in mouth and all, I kept my thoughts to myself though and enjoyed my smorgasbord of food. Otherwise, dining alone was a complete success and not as awful as I thought it would be. I definitely prefer someone to be with me, but I enjoyed the alone time. You should really try it sometimes. It's fun to observe everyone around you and people watch. I suggest doing it in heels and a fur coat, just FYI. Have you ever dined alone? Were you intimidated by it like me, or is it a regular occurrence for you? Do you think I'm ridiculous for waiting this long to go by myself?? Haha. :) Anyway, I think everyone should do it at least once. I think I'll do it more often now! Here's to dinners solo, cheers!

  1. I used to do this some times, and it is strange and wonderful at the same time. Love the idea of doing it in fur and heels!
