{Henry Harper}

I'll do a real birth story, hopefully in the near future when things settle down, but for now I thought I'd touch base with you all.

Our baby boy was born Friday, November 1st at 9:39 pm. Since then we've been overwhelmed with love, joy and dirty diapers!

First of all, having a baby is NO easy task! Whew! I've cried, he's cried and I've cried some more. There are so many things that you are never prepared for. People will give you all the advice in the world. They will tell you what you need in the nursery, they will tell you how you should care for your babe and they will tell you exactly how you should prepare. But the truth is, every single detail of parenthood is different for every family and every baby. You learn what you don't already know as you go, and that's ok. It's tough, but when you have a bean bear as cute as we do, you suck it up. It's ok to feel lost, to feel like it's never going to get better or like you're never going to sleep again. As a friend pointed out to me yesterday, "It won't be like this for long." We actually have those lyrics hanging in the nursery, maybe I subconsciously knew I'd have a rough time at first.

SO, as I sit here with stitches, hemorrhoids and engorged breasts(yeah I said all of that), while not having slept but three hours and unshowered, I stare at Henry snuggled in his turtle swaddle and I remind myself that he is worth every single struggle.

Thank you to all that have reached out, shown your love and support and have talked me through this whole breastfeeding/cluster feeding/motherhood thing. I truly appreciate the motivation and the extra pushes.

Cheers to being a momma! Especially Henry Harper's momma!
xx,
Melissa Loren

  3. He's so beautiful! Sending you lots of strength to get through this tough adjustment period. You and Henry will find your groove soon. It's so true that it won't always be like this.

  4. He is adorable! I love that you named him henry. We decided to name our 4th baby henry.. I didn't love the name at first it was just such an old fashioned name.. But now I love it! He just fits the name so well! It looks like your swaddle blanket is Aiden and anais! Those are the best blankets in the world... We have 18 of them! And 6 of the mini blankets with a silk border! My henry uses those as a binki! It won't always be like this you are right! The first week or 2 is always a little rocky with a new born! I hope people have planned to bring you meals to help you out?
