This weekend I decided it was time to let Henry try to see his first big boy movie...in the theater. I was nervous, of course. He's not a wild child by any means, but to sit still (and quiet!) for almost two hours is a feat for any two year old. SO, here's how it went...
We went to a cozy theater in my hometown's "down town" area. It only has 4 screens and it still looks exactly the same as it did when I was two. It gives me a nostalgic feeling though, and I love it. We took some time before the movie to look at all the Christmas lights that were up, since Henry is now light obsessed after our Magic Tree trip.
I'm sure you guessed by now that we saw The Good Dinosaur. With Henry's love for dinosaurs, I thought it would be the perfect movie to hold his attention for a length of time. I was told that we should skip the previews to avoid any extra time sitting, but I was way too anxious and excited to get to the movie. Typical. Luuuuckily my kid's a saint. He sat through the entire movie like it was his JOB. He'd point and talk about the things he recognized every now and then, but I don't think he disturbed anyone. We hit the dollar store before and packed all the goodies you could think of, so I think that helped. Henry was mostly just interested in the popcorn though. We wore our pjs so we'd be comfy and just incase he fell asleep and needed a quick transfer. He stayed awake the entire time though and just needed to cuddle on mama's lap for about the last 30 minutes or so. Overall it was a HUGE success. I wouldn't expect him to do this often, but it's nice to know that we can go every now and then. :)
